We have some brand new information about the long-awaited Friends reunion special – and a first look teaser too!

Have a look above at Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer returning to the show’s iconic set on Stage 24 at Warner Bros Studios for a documentary years in the making.

HBO Max in the US has now confirmed that Friends: The Reunion will be released exclusively on the streaming service on Thursday, May 27. No UK date has been announced yet.

It’s only appropriate to release the special on a Thursday since Friends originally aired on that day in the US and, along with Seinfeld and Will & Grace, anchored the channel’s classic Must See TV line-up.

Joining the cast for this look back at the sitcom will be some memorable guest stars, such as Maggie Wheeler (Janice), James Michael Tyler (Gunther), Elliott Gould and Christina Pickles (Jack and Judy Geller), Larry Hankin (Mr Heckles), Thomas Lennon (Joey’s hand-twin), Tom Selleck (Richard Burke) and Reese Witherspoon (Jill Green).

Celebrity super-fans David Beckham, Lady Gaga, Kit Harington, Justin Bieber, BTS, James Corden, Cara Delevingne, Mindy Kaling and Malala Yousafzai have also contributed some of their memories of Friends to The Reunion.

As mentioned, The Reunion has been filmed on Friends’ original set in Burbank, where designers recreated Monica and Rachel’s apartment in pain-staking detail.

The Friends reunion was originally announced all the way back in November 2019, but COVID-19 delayed scheduled filming all the way through 2020. Finally, the cast regrouped last month to look back on their fondest Friends memories.

Friends airs daily on Comedy Central in the UK and is also streaming on Netflix in the UK.
