Is Money Heist dubbed?

Money Heist is a Spanish-language television series, featuring an entirely Spanish cast.

All four seasons of Money Heist are in the show’s native language Spanish, however, the heist crime drama series has been dubbed over in several languages.

Money Heist, also known as La Casa de Papel, first premiered in October 2017 on the Spanish TV channel Antena 3.

In November 2017, Netflix acquired the global streaming rights for the series, re-cutting and dubbing the episodes for worldwide distribution.

As a result, Money Heist is available to watch in Spanish and several other languages.

Here are the languages Netflix UK users can watch Money Heist in:

  • English
  • French
  • Polish
  • Brazilian Portuguese

Should I watch Money Heist dubbed?

In 2019, Netflix made a conscious effort to make foreign content on the platform sound less awkward reported The New York Times.

Following complaints from viewers, Netflix replaced the English re-dubbed for the first and second seasons of Money Heist, using the cast who dubbed seasons three and four.

Netflix reported in 2019 that 72 percent of its American viewers preferred to watch Money Heist with dubs and 85 percent preferred dubs on the German series Dark.

However, despite changes being made, dubbing on Money Heist does not seem to be popular judging by the feedback from viewers online.

One fan on Reddit wrote: “Such a terrible translation of the name of the show from Spanish to English. Money heist is an awful name. So generic and boring. Unlike the show, which is amazing.”

A second fan, Georgia Nic on Quora said: “It is always best to watch something as it was originally intended. Especially with La Casa de Papel [Money Heist], every single element that comprised it is so well done and so carefully put together that it is a shame to lose any of it.

“Take one thing out, and the magic will be lost…

“There is a reason that this show had such a phenomenal effect on people who watched it in non-English speaking countries. It’s really well done.

“And the acting in it, is so meticulous and so wonderful, a work of art in its own right and you wouldn’t experience that with the dubbing, with all due respect to dubbing actors-it is nowhere close to the original.”

A third Money heist fan tweeted: “please watch money heist subbed not dubbed, thank u”
