Legacies season 3 will apparently conclude with a “jackhammer of a cliffhanger”.
This juicy insight was provided by executive producer Brett Matthews during a recent chat with Entertainment Weekly, where he previewed what awaits our heroes in the immediate future.
“Episode 16 ends on a jackhammer of a cliffhanger,” he declared, in reference to how the sixteenth instalment of season 3 works as the finale, despite 20 being written (the others air this autumn).
“If [the finale] couldn’t be episode 20, I’m glad it’s episode 16.”
If that doesn’t get your blood pumping, Matthews also revealed that another sphinx prophecy will play its part in the third season, even if it’s not directly alluded to.
“If you’re looking at what the sphinx said in the macro, I’d argue it’s the question of the first three seasons,” he explained.
“He told what is the story of the three seasons and is it fated to end this way or, as our characters so often do, is there something they can do to overcome it? That question lies at the heart of these first three seasons for sure.”
Meanwhile, Matthews also recently spoke about how they managed to pull off the feat of a space-themed episode, despite thinking it could only be a “pipe dream”.
Legacies airs on The CW in the US.
