LUCIFER season 5 is coming to Netflix this spring and there are some new faces in the cast. Dennis Haysbert stars as the Devil’s father – God – in the series but does this mean he will visit Earth?

For the past four seasons, the identity of God has remained a mystery. However, that all changed in January this year when Dennis Haysbert was cast in the role. Haysbert is best known on TV for his role as President David Palmer in 24, where he co-starred with Lucifer actor DB Woodside. Tvserieswelove has everything you need to know about his role as God in the new series of Lucifer.

Will God visit Earth in Lucifer season 5?

Lucifer Morningstar’s (played by Tom Ellis) father has yet to appear on Earth.

The devil has had visits from his mother The Goddess/Charlotte Richards (Tricia Helfer) in the past, and from the beginning his brother Amenadiel (DB Woodside) is on Earth alongside him.

However, one powerful and important figure missing from his life is his father God but could be about to change.

Dennis Haysbert was cast in the recurring role of God for the final series of Lucifer in January 2020.

Only on a few occasions before has God’s voice been heard, voiced by Lucifer creator Neil Gaiman.

Taking to Twitter, Gaiman confirmed he was “happy with the decision” and was involved in the casting process of finding the right man to play God.

He said: “I was [involved in the casting decision]. But I’m neither available enough nor talented enough to play God all through season 5.”

Not much is known about what is in store for his character but recently, Lesley Ann-Brandt who plays Maze in the series teased a few small details in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.

She joked about how God appears in the series because “his kids are acting a fool on Earth. Time to check y’all!”.

Lucifer fans will know at the end of season four, Lucifer returned to rule over Hell, leaving his life and his love Chloe Decker (Lauren German) behind on Earth.

However, the cast and crew of Lucifer have confirmed he will return to Earth early in the series.

So – will God go to Earth to drag him back to Hell? After all, God was the one that put him in charge.

Lucifer, formerly the angel Samael, was the oldest of all of God’s sons.

However, he was cast out of Heaven after he launched a rebellion against his father.

He was sentenced to rule Hell and to punish the souls of deceased sinners for all eternity.

Lucifer reluctantly ruled Hell for years but soon got bored and moved his life to Los Angeles on Earth.

Tricia Helfer has also reprised her role as God’s ex-wife The Goddess/Charlotte Richards, so it could make for some interesting scenes if they cross paths, especially if their son is in the picture.

Brandt praised Haysbert for his portrayal of God and revealed that Maze will cross paths with him.

She said: “Dennis Haysbert is really just a gorgeous actor and there’s really great work between these two characters.

“I can say that she goes to him and asks him for something huge.”

Lucifer fans took to Twitter to share their excitement about God finally making an appearance.

One fan tweeted: “WHAAAAAT? God will finally be seen??? I’m so ready! Can’t wait for a second longer to watch #LuciferSeason5”

A second fan said: “Not sure I’m ready to see HIM. but I guess there will be some funny scenes with God will #Lucifer finally discuss some daddy
issues with him? and I wonder how Linda will greet God after she already ‘practised’ with God Johnson in S2”

A third fan commented: “Sure hope Lucifer and Dear Old Dad will have a joint therapy session with Doctor Linda – would be hilarious! And long overdue! #celestialdaddyissues”
