Lucifer writer Joe Henderson has shut down theories that the fantasy show has received another surprise renewal post-season 6.
In response to the series bagging a slot at Comic-Con’s virtual event on Saturday (July 24), the writer and producer took to Twitter earlier this month to ponder what they could discuss during the panel.
“Whatever could we talk about…” he wrote alongside a thinking face emoji, causing his followers to assume that the team are sitting on a juicy secret and waiting for the right time to reveal all.
In the replies, entertainment journalist Merrill Barr joked: “I swear to [God] if you’re surprisingly renewed again..,” to which Henderson quipped back: “Ha! I can confirm that ain’t happening :)”
Last year, Kevin Alejandro, who plays homicide detective Dan Espinoza, opened up about the moment when Netflix shocked fans (and the crew) by confirming the supernatural drama would be back for a sixth instalment.
He recalled: “All of us went into [season five], and continued throughout the journey, up until the episode before the last one, thinking this was our series finale. That this was the show finale.
“You can tell, I think… through the scripts and through the episodes that they didn’t hold anything back, they were just pushing forward. Everyone was under that impression, until Netflix changed their minds. So it sort of threw us all for a loop!”
