OUTLANDER season 6 will see Tom Christie make an arrival on Fraser’s Ridge and he is set for an “intense” scene with Claire Fraser.
Warning: The following article may contain spoilers from Outlander season six.
As Fraser’s Ridge grows, more settlers will arrive in season six and one of them will be an old foe of Jamie Fraser (played by Sam Heughan). Tom Christie (Mark Lewis Jones) will arrive with his son and daughter where he is set to fall for Claire Fraser (Caitriona Balfe). While it’s unlikely he will act on his feelings in the new series of Outlander, author Diana Gabaldon has shared details of an intense scene between the pair.
With Outlander season six not hitting television screens until early 2022, fans still have a long wait on their hands.
Fortunately, filming on the new series has wrapped and Diana has been able to watch some of the rushes from set.
Teasing fans, she shared: “I saw the first daily including [Tom], which was one where Claire is doing surgery to repair a gash in his hand and Jamie comes in to watch.
“It’s a brief scene, but fairly intense because of blood, stuff like that.”
Diana went on to explain the series “stuck very close to the source material” which will be good news for fans of the books.
Speaking of Mark’s portrayal of Tom, she told The Dipp: “He’s very self-contained.
“It is just wonderful. There’s sparks in every direction.”
Diana continued: “Having seen that one scene, I found him on Twitter and sent him a direct message.
“And I said, ‘Man, you have got Tom Christie cold.’
“Because he did. You could tell just from that one scene he understood who this guy is.”
It comes as fans shared their theory Tom and Claire could have an affair.
In the Outlander novels, Tom tells Claire he is in love with her after he confesses to killing daughter Malva (Jessica Reynolds).
Claire believes Tom will be hanged for his crimes and leaves without responding.
However fans were certain the series could be different.
One fan posted on Reddit: “When I read ABOSAA for the first time, I did not at all realise that Tom was falling in love with Claire, until Jamie mentions it in his inner monologue while on the way to New Bern.
“On the second read now, and I do see so many subtle signs, in the description of Tom’s body language when he’s conversing with Claire, some very rom-com like happenstances (stumbling down and heads colliding lol), the sheer number of times he’s caught just staring at her etc.
“Either I am reading too much between the lines now that I know what I know or I totally missed it the first time around because there was just so much happening or because I probably speed read.”
They continued: “I am so looking forward to seeing how they play this in the series.”
Fortunately, following Diana’s comments it seems Tom will keep his feelings secret.
Outlander seasons 1-5 are available to watch.
