Lucifer views are waiting almost a year for the release of the second half of season 5, and a promising update on Netflix may have confirmed the next eight episodes will be hitting screens soon.

The fifth season of the hugely popular urban fantasy drama Lucifer was hit with considerable coronavirus delays last year, but production is now back on track to finish the Netflix series’ sixth instalment in the coming weeks. Now, an encouraging clue spotted on the streaming service’s release schedule could hint towards the series returning sooner rather than later.

Fans of Netflix’s hit series Lucifer believe the next episodes could be released earlier than expected.

Speculation was revived when one fan noticed the series being promoted on the streaming platform much more than usual, hinting at its impending return.

Netflix have yet to confirm a release date for season 5b since the first episodes arrived last August.

The release was staggered after filming on the upcoming season finale was shut down amid the outbreak of coronavirus almost a year ago.

Now production is well underway again, eager viewers have been constantly been looking out for any sign of Lucifer within Netflix’s release announcements.

Fans were recently disappointed when the service’s March schedule failed to include the return of Lucifer after last year’s exhilarating midseason finale.

However, the latest rumours suggest the series could be coming back to screens some time in April, or could even have a surprise release later this month.

One eagle-eyed fan took to Reddit when they noticed the fourth and fifth seasons of Lucifer had been moved to a different section on their Netflix homepage.

User mazikeve posted: “Lucifer is now listed in the ‘Worth the Wait’ section.

“And not just mine because the algorithm knows I watch it a lot — checked my friend’s account, who has never once watched the show, and it is listed on his too.”

Their evidence is, obviously, anecdotal, but the trend does suggest Netflix may have started to ramp up promotion for the series in time for its upcoming return.

They continued: “Normally I wouldn’t read into this since ‘worth the wait’ can mean just about anything, but almost all of the other shows in that section are already dated, and all coming out some time in March.”

“They may be announcing the date in the next few weeks, and then releasing the episodes shortly thereafter!”

If the theories are true, fans could expect to see Lucifer season 5b included in Netflix’s upcoming release calendar for April 2021.

Filming for Lucifer’s sixth season also appears to be coming to an end, having completed shooting the eighth of ten episodes over the last week.

The show’s current production schedule may provide a roadmap for when patient fans can finally expect to see the final eighteen episodes of the popular drama.

Down in the comments, other viewers hoped this fan’s instincts were correct, though some erred on the side of caution.

One replied: “I hope you’re right but it’s been in that section for quite a while now. But I’m in France so maybe it’s different on Netflix US.”

And a second recalled: “Tom Ellis reportedly told a Zoom fan panel last week that while 5B is finished (including CGI work) we probably won’t see it released until May or early June.”

While midseason breaks can certainly be frustrating for loyal fans, especially after last year’s game-changing cliffhanger, it’s hoped their patience will be rewarded very soon.
