Among the treats in store for fans of Lucifer in season five is a musical episode, which we frankly cannot wait to see. And if star Tom Ellis’ latest comments are anything to go by we should be in for something pretty special, the actor admitting it felt like he had “won a competition”.

“It was by far and away the most fun I have had doing anything on a set ever!” he told Da Man.

“Singing and dancing makes me very happy, so when we filmed on a high school football field with 100 background dancers to the music of Queen, let’s just say I felt like I’d won a competition to live out my dream.”

Lucifer’s musical episode, entitled ‘Bloody Celestial Karaoke Jam’, was confirmed earlier this year, with “multiple musical numbers” set to be included.

“We wanted to have a real grounded story reason why they’re singing and dancing, and not just, ‘Oh, this is going to be the one where everybody sings and dances’,” showrunner Ildy Modrovich said.

“It’s been a little game of Tetris [planning the episode], but it’s been super fun. It’s going to be amazing. It’s going to be just such a bucket list thing for me.”

On top of that, season five will also have a one-off noir episode, which will follow Lucifer Morningstar’s ‘first case’ in the 1940s.
