Outlander showrunner Matthew B Roberts has finally relented to calls from fans and hinted that he may bring back his ‘Photo of the Day’.
The ace writer and producer has been on board for all 82 episodes of the show since it launched in 2014 and for the first few years he shared snaps with fans on social media.
These ranged from behind-the-scenes shots of Sam Heughan, Caitriona Balfe and the rest of the cast to stunning images of the Scottish countryside. He also posted photos sent in by fans of the show as well as the actors themselves.
However, the photos stopped a few years ago as Roberts found himself at the helm of a global TV sensation after previously working as a writer or co-showrunner.
Outlander fans have occasionally asked for Photo of the Day – or #potd – to be revived, most recently when Elizabeth Smith tweeted last month: “I miss #potd from @TheMattBRoberts @Outlander_STARZ.”

And much to everyone’s delight, he replied: “I’ve been a wee bit busy but I’ll see what I can manage for S8.”
Filming on Season 7 has wrapped in Scotland and it is now in the post-production stage but Season 8 – which will be the final one – is due to get underway later this year.
Fans of the show were delighted at the prospect of more intimate and scenic photos being posted on social media.
One said: “Your pics are always stunning! Thanks in advance for anything you’ll post.”
And Elizabeth, who posed the original question, said: “Oh, thank you! I know you’re a bit busy with the whole producing and showrunner for Outlander and it’s prequel thing but it’s greatly appreciated.”

Roberts is also working on the prequel, Outlander: Blood of My Blood, which will centre on the lives and relationship of Jamie Fraser’s parents, Brian Fraser and Ellen MacKenzie.
