Outlander spoilers follow.
Outlander has released the first full-length trailer for the upcoming sixth season.
Premiering on Sunday, March 6, the new run of episodes will continue Claire (Caitríona Balfe) and Jamie’s (Sam Heughan) journey as they live under the looming threat of the Revolutionary War.
Making a home at Fraser’s Ridge in North Carolina, the couple must confront threats from external forces and from within the community.
The trailer, which can be viewed at the top of this article, shows the situation dramatically escalating to the point where sacrifices may have to be made.
“Change takes courage. Freedom takes sacrifice. Love takes everything,” the captions read.
Towards the end of the promo, Claire can be heard (presumably speaking to Jamie): “I don’t belong here. Brianna, Roger, they don’t belong here.
“But yet here we are – all of us. Because I love you. More than the life that I had.”
The new season is based on the sixth book of Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series, A Breath of Snow and Ashes. A seventh season has already been confirmed to be happening.
One person who wouldn’t say no to a return for season 7 is actor Steven Cree.
Cree played Ian Murray in the first four seasons of the show, but the character does feature in the seventh book (spoilers below).
“I would love to go back and particularly if they decide to do that storyline [in the book series] and it ties up Ian’s storyline,” he told us here at Digital Spy in December. “That would be really a nice end – not that I wish him to die – and full circle for the character.”
