WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Outlander and the Outlander book series.
Outlander fans have witnessed the Fraser family endure numerous trials, but does Jamie Fraser meet his end in season seven?
The second part of season seven premiered last week on MGM+ via Prime Video for UK viewers and Starz for US fans, featuring the return of Jamie (portrayed by Sam Heughan), Claire Fraser (Caitriona Balfe), and Young Ian (John Bell) to Scotland.
Unfortunately, Claire soon had to depart for America to perform life-saving surgeries, resulting in a separation from Jamie.
However, in episode 10, Brotherly Love, Jamie and his sister Jenny (Kristin Atherton) planned to sail to the States to join her, informing his wife about the ship he would be on.
The episode concluded with a devastating twist as Lord John Grey (David Berry) had the heart-wrenching task of informing Claire that the ship had sunk, leaving both of them distraught over the loss of their beloved Jamie.
Does Jamie die in Outlander season 7?
In the preview for episode 11, A Hundredweight of Stones, Claire is seen grieving, sobbing on her bed, with Lord John also devastated at the loss of his friend for whom he harbours deep feelings.
But if the drama follows the plotline of Diana Gabaldon’s book series, then Jamie will not die in season seven of Outlander.
In the seventh book, An Echo In The Bone, Claire and Lord John do believe that Jamie died along with the others on board the sunken ship.
In a desperate attempt to shield Claire from being apprehended as a spy, Lord John steps in and marries her.
Their shared sorrow brings them closer, leading to an intense night where they consummate their marriage in the novel.
The unexpected arrival of Jamie, alive and well, at their home leaves them stunned. He and Jenny had missed the ill-fated first ship and managed to board the next one.
If the show remains faithful to the Outlander book series’ storyline, it begs the question: how will Jamie respond upon discovering that Claire has remarried and been intimate with Lord John?
