Outlander star Sam Heughan has scooped the top prize for his whisky again a spirits awards competition.
Sassenach whisky, which launched last year and is named with a nod to the hit TV show, took double gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition the a second year in a row.
Delighted Sam took to Twitter to celebrate his win, writing: “Whoop! 2nd year running, double gold win for @SassenachSpirit! So proud!”
The Scots actor first announced the whisky in 2019, before launching it in the US in March last year.
Since 2000, the San Francisco World Spirits Competition has become one of the most influential competitions around.
The judges use a blind tasting process and receive entries from all over the world with the Double Gold the highest medal available.
First announced in August 2019, Sam’s dream of making his own whisky came true after setting up his own drinks company, The Great Glen Company.

As well as the name being a nod to Outlander, the Dumfries-born actor has also used the unicorn, the national animal of Scotland, for his logo.
When it was released last year, it was awarded double gold at the 2020 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, and has now done the double.
The popular whisky, which is produced by Loch Lomond whiskies, is described by Sam as being “rich, distinct, sweet and smooth”, making it as approachable and appealing as possible to a wide range of whisky fans.
