Riverdale star Skeet Ulrich and The Boys star Giancarlo Esposito are teaming up for a six part series called The Driver, which is a remake of the British drama series of the same name (via Deadline).
Esposito plays the role of taxi driver Vince, while Ulrich takes on the role of Colin, an old acquaintance, in the AMC series.
The story sees Vince agree to chauffeur a New Orleans-based Zimbabwean gangster known as ‘The Horse’ (played by Zackary Momoh), who has a reputation for exploiting undocumented immigrants at the Southern US ports.
The show will begin production in New Orleans this month, and also stars Paula Malcomson and Bonnie Mbuli, while Esposito will also executive produce the show alongside creators Danny Brocklehurst and Sunu Gonera, and showrunner Theo Travers, as well as David Morrissey, who played Vince in the original version.
Meanwhile, over on Riverdale showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa has opened up about the show’s cancellation by the CW, and what we can expect from season 7.
Speaking to Digital Spy, he said: “Honestly, I feel like… you know, we’ll have had seven seasons. Truly, I think it was bittersweet. I think we were all anticipating it, we thought that seven would be it.”
“When the call came, it definitely was bittersweet and there was a sadness. But, I don’t think anyone ever imagined a show based on the Archie comic book characters, that was dark and twisted, would last nearly as long as it did, and resonate with an audience. So I feel good.”
As for what we can expect from season 7, he said: “I feel grateful that we have one more year to kind of wrap up the series the way we want to. We’ve got a very big idea for the last season that will become clear after the season six finale.”
