The Flash and Riverdale will return for a new season in all new time slots.
Over in the US on The CW, the two series will take over two different nights following their hyped five-episode season opening events.
TVLine reports The Flash is set to be back on November 16 with the first of five weekly instalments in the Armageddon team-up event, involving other shows in the Arrowverse. Following the five-part premiere, the eighth season of the show starring Grant Gustin will continue on March 9, 2022, moving from a Tuesday to a Wednesday 8pm slot.
Riverdale will have a similar fate. The show will air its RiverVale crossover event starring Kiernan Shipka’s Sabrina Spellman (straight from Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) on November 16 as well. It then will resume its sixth season on a new night in 2022, Sunday, March 6 at 8pm.
After the news of a crossover was announced, Shipka posted a photo to her Instagram seeing her in character as Sabrina on the set of Riverdale. “From Greendale to Riverdale. See u in Season 6,” she wrote in the caption.
Her character will show up on episode four to help novice witch Cheryl Blossom (Madelaine Petsch) dealing with an especially dangerous spell.
Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, the creator of both Riverdale and CAOS, said it is “thrilling” to be able to share the crossover with fans.
“We’ve been talking about having Sabrina visit Riverdale since season one, so it’s thrilling that this is finally happening, as part of our Riverdale special event,” he said in a statement.
“It’s also perfect that she shows up to help Cheryl Blossom during her hour of greatest need. Everyone on set lost their minds – I think fans will, too. It’s really fun and special.”
