Riverdale has cast Veronica Lodge’s (Cami Mendes) sister in its forthcoming fourth season.
At the New York Comic Con (October 6), The CW show announced that Mishel Prada will join the series as Veronica’s “dangerous” older half-sister Hermosa (via TV Guide).
It follows a terrifying teaser which offered fans a sneak-peak at Jughead’s (Cole Sprouse) terrifying fate after season three’s flash-forward cliffhanger. *chills*
You may recognise Mishel from the Mexican-American TV series Vida, as well as from the web series Fear the Walking Dead: Passage.
The fourth season of Riverdale will also feature an episode including all the living members of the Cooper-Jones family together.
Plus, there will be another musical episode this season, with a David Lynch-inspired episode directed by actual Twin Peaks star and Alice Cooper actress Mädchen Amick.
In other news, it has recently been revealed that Riverdale was at one stage conceptualised as a zombie apocalypse series.
Showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa told EW: “When we were originally talking about doing a show about the Archie comic characters, one of the takes we debated pitching was Afterlife with Archie and it being not a descendant of Dawson’s Creek as Riverdale is, but a descendant of Buffy.”
He went on to explain that this “was an idea that everyone was passionate about”, but they ultimately decided to go with a more grounded show.
Riverdale season 4 has a Wednesday, October 9 premiere date on The CW in the US. In the UK, you can stream via Netflix from Thursday, October 10.
