Stranger Things star David Harbour has said that the Netflix show’s final episode had the cast “uncontrollably crying”.
The fifth and final season is set to drop on the streaming service next year, and the cast recently participated in a table read (where the cast and crew read the script together to get the flow of the dialogue and to see if any changes need to be made before filming), where things got emotional.
Speaking at a live instalment of the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the Jim Hopper actor said: “The end of this episode when we were reading it — just us reading it — about halfway through, people started crying.
“Then about the last 20 minutes, it was just uncontrollably crying, waves of different people.”
Harbour explained that it was due to how long the cast knew each other, adding that for actors like Millie Bobby Brown and Galen Matarazzo, “it was their childhood”.
“They started the show when they were 11 and 12, and here we are reading [this finale],” he said.
The actor added that Noah Schnapp was the most emotionally overwhelmed of the cast, and did an impression of how he cried at the table read.
He thinks fans will be equally moved by the finale, stating: “It’s so well done and so beautiful. They land the plane, and it is the best episode they’ve ever done… It’s such a great episode, and it’s such a great season. You guys will love it.”
