If you’re not busy getting stuck into a quiz with friends, baking banana bread or working out in your front room, you’re probably making your way through your next TV series or figuring out what new movie to watch.

But now we’re six weeks into lockdown, you might be after some much-needed what to watch inspiration (we know we are), which is where Stranger Things star Dacre Montgomery comes in.

As part of Cosmo UK’s new ‘Are You Still Watching?’ franchise, the actor has shared his top TV and film recommendations to help you through isolation. Enjoy…

UNORTHODOX
“Unorthodox is a four-part series about an ultra-Orthodox Jewish girl and her journey coming out of Williamsburg in New York. The lead actress is incredible. I found it incredibly moving. It’s a culture that I know nothing about, but I felt like a learned a huge amount and it was a beautiful, beautiful story.”

TIGER KING
“Obviously I’ve binged Tiger King like it seems everybody else on the planet did. It’s such an absurdly crude storyline and it’s just amazing to me to see how that all unfolded.”

THE MARVELOUS MRS. MAISEL
“I’ve heard so many good things about The Marvelous Mrs Maisel. My partner and I sat down and we started watching it and it’s so addictive – every single actor in that show is phenomenal. As far as comedic and dramatic actors go, I just think it’s sensational. The storyline was phenomenal. Again, [it’s] an era and a time I know nothing about but I found myself being able to connect completely to the characters and their journey, so we watched three seasons of that.”

THE WATCHMEN
“The original feature film was one of my favourite superhero films so I thought I would give it a go, and I take my hat off to HBO because I think it is such an incredibly different tact to take with a superhero TV show. I found it really grounded and really beautiful to watch and on top of that the choreography, the special effects… and the storyline was pretty fascinating.”

THE PLATFORM
“In terms of movies, go watch The Platform on Netflix. That film is phenomenal and I think it says a lot about what is going on in our society at the moment. It provides some great symbolism about what we’re going through.”

WARRIOR
“On top of that, we’ve been having fight nights so we started with Warrior with Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton. That was phenomenal and one of the best movies I’ve ever seen about these two brothers who have grown apart for a variety of different reasons, which I won’t ruin for you, but they end up fighting each other.”

SOUTHPAW
“Jake Gyllenhaal and Rachel McAdams did an incredible job… and of course Forest Whitaker, who always does a great job.”

THE GLADIATOR
“Last night we started watching the Gladiator for the first time in however many years and hats off to Hans Zimmer. I don’t know if any of you are soundtrack people but he did such an incredible job.”
