The Boys season three spoilers follow.

Following an unexpected song and dance number in season three, The Boys showrunner has opened up on the chance of a full-on musical episode.

The latest season of the superhero show created by Eric Kripke features a dream musical sequence in episode five.

While in hospital recovering from the Russian lab explosion, Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) is watching the 1943 classic Girl Crazy with Frenchie (Tomer Capone). She then imagines they are performing the song ‘I Got Rhythm’, dancing and singing along the corridors with the other patients.

“That would be my dream,” Kripke told Total Film about a musical episode.

“Maybe out of this interview, Amazon will read that and let me do it.”

“I’m a huge fan of classic Hollywood musicals, I love them,” he continued.

“People always laugh when they find out because the stuff I make is sort of gory, but really, for most filmmakers, like the stuff you make and the stuff you watch are two very different things. And I just love them.”

Kripke also said he has “always wanted to do a full-on musical episode, like a full-on song and dance top to bottom”.

“But I’ve never quite found the story means to do it,” he added. “But at the very least an opportunity came up to have one really big number and so I couldn’t resist.”

As a fourth season has officially been confirmed, there’s still plenty of time for Kripke to see his musical dreams come true.

The Boys seasons 1 and 2 are available to watch. Season 3 premiered on June 3 with new episodes releasing weekly.
