The producer of The Boys has clarified Jensen Ackles’ character in season 3.

Earlier this year, it was announced the Supernatural star will join the forthcoming season of the Amazon series, which recently aired its shocking season 2 finale.

Ackles will play Soldier Boy – the so-called “original superhero”, who fought in World War II and became the first super celebrity.

Speaking recently, The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke confirmed Solder Boy enters the story as an acquaintance of the villainous Stormfront (Aya Cash), back when she was known as Liberty and still had all her limbs.

He also revealed the character has been a “mainstay of Vought for decades”.

“Yes, [Soldier Boy] knew [Stormfront] when she was Liberty,” Kripke told TV Guide.

“There’s a history of Vought that we’re starting to map out because Soldier Boy has been a mainstay of Vought for decades.

“He was like John Wayne there, and so as a result, we’re writing the history of Vought and how all the characters weave in together.

“And yeah, now Liberty is definitely a part of that.”

The comments follow Kripke teasing the return of Love Sausage in season 3.
