The CW’s The Flash is currently well into season 7, however, fans are wondering whether season 8 will be the show’s last.

Filming of The Flash season 7 was heavily delayed from July to October 2020 during the pandemic, which caused the show’s normal 22-episode season to be shortened to 18.

Grant Gustin’s long-running role of playing the ‘Fastest Man Alive’ has been a hit with DC fans since the show aired in 2014, but will season 8 be the end of the line for the small screen’s Barry Allen?

WILL THE FLASH END AFTER SEASON 8?

  • Rumors suggest that the show will conclude after season 8.

The CW gave The Flash season 8 the thumbs up back in February, matching Arrow’s eight-season haul.

However, the publication Small Screen recently revealed that reliable sources pegged season 8 as the show’s last, fueling the rumors being spread amongst Arrowverse fans.

The network is yet to confirm this, however, if it is true, The Flash’s final season should include various links to other characters that will continue the Arrowverse, alongside Supergirl and Black Lightning.

ComicBook reported that The CW president, Mark Pedowitz, confirmed that season 8 would include five event episodes, featuring “other heroes from The CWverse that come together in each episode”.

Two veteran actors of the show also confirmed that they were leaving after season 7 concluded, which also suggests that the show is winding down.

WHO IS LEAVING AFTER SEASON 7?

  • Carlos Valdes and Tom Cavanagh will be leaving after season 7.

The Cisco Roman actor confirmed that his final performance would be in the episode ‘Good-Bye Vibrations’, scheduled to premiere June 8.

Cavanagh, who plays Harrison Wells and Eobard Thawne, will also be leaving shortly after Valdes, which will cause the show to lose two, key players.

WHEN IS THE SEASON 7 FINALE?

  • The season 7 finale is scheduled to premiere on July 20.

The delayed episode 12, which will be Valdes’ last, will air on Tuesday June 8, leaving six episodes left of season 7.

You can watch The Flash on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
