The Flash’s ninth and final season will pay tribute to the genesis of the Arrowverse in style with its ninth episode, which will bring back Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen.

The episode is being directed by Arrowverse star Danielle Panabaker, and although it’s still a few weeks away from airing in the US, she has been teasing what we can expect.

Speaking to TVLine, Panabaker teased: “There is [a fight scene], and my understanding is that one of the stunts we did was one of the biggest stunts that has ever been done on Flash.

“[There’s also] a fight sequence that was my homage to the incredible fight sequences that they did on Arrow all those years. So, it’s a packed, full episode, absolutely.”

The episode will also bring back Arrowverse characters John Diggle/Spartan (David Ramsey), Wally West/Kid Flash (Keiynan Lonsdale), and Bloodwork (Sendhil Ramamurthy) for this big brawl.

Showrunner Eric Wallace added: “There won’t be a dry eye in the house at the end of that episode. It’s extremely emotional.”

Wallace wouldn’t be drawn on how Oliver comes back from the dead, but he explained that it wouldn’t trample over the shared DC TV universe’s canon.

“We don’t change what has happened in the eight seasons of Arrow,” he said. “We honour all of that.”

Stephen Amell recently opened up about how he was convinced to make a return for The Flash’s final season, and also asked fans to stop asking questions about the manner of Oliver’s return, and look forward to the surprise.

The Flash airs on Sky Max and NOW in the UK, and on The CW in the US.
