The Walking Dead writerRobert Kirkman is bringing back one of its most iconic characters in a unique way.

Rick Grimes was killed off the comic book version of The Walking Dead in 2019, but the hero is now set for a comeback in a new comic.

The revival will be part of a limited five-issue release called Skybound X. The special project is taking place to mark the 10th anniversary of Kirkman’s entertainment company Skybound.

Kirkman said in a statement: “Surprise! Did you really think we would let Skybound’s ten-year anniversary pass us by without bringing back some of our favourite characters?

“We are forever thankful for our community’s support over the past decade and are honoured to share this special series with the larger Skybound family. None of these characters have such monumental journeys without the fans, so Skybound X is for all of you!”

Skybound X will see Grimes return to continue an adventure from The Walking Dead #75. This important issue revealed that aliens were responsible for the zombie plague.

Clementine – known for being part of The Walking Dead video games – will also appear in a comic book for the first time as part of Skybound X.

New stories from Assassin Nation, Excellence and Manifest Destiny will also be included.

Working alongside Kirkman, other names involved with the Skybound X project include Ryan Ottley, Tillie Walden, Donny Cates, Joshua Williamson, Chip Zdarsky, James Harren, and Daniel Warren Johnson.
