Tell Me Lies season 2 spoilers follow.
Lucifer star Tom Ellis has confirmed he is returning for a third season of his dark and addictive show Tell Me Lies, promising fans they “will not be disappointed”.
Back in December, the hit romantic thriller, which is available to stream on Disney+ in the UK, was renewed for a third season.
Ellis joined the cast of Tell Me Lies for season two, where his character, a professor named Oliver, began an affair with Catherine Missal’s Bree.
At the end of the season, a shocked Bree came to find out that Oliver’s wife Marianne (Gabriella Pession) had known all along and the couple were in an open marriage.
Previous rumours suggested that Ellis might not return for a third season, but the actor has now confirmed he will be back playing Oliver.
“Yes, I’m going back. I’m actually going there on Saturday to start shooting,” Ellis told People, revealing that he has already read “the first four episodes”.
Teasing fans with what’s to come, Ellis said that viewers “will not be disappointed” by the upcoming season of the Hulu show.
“It is as dark, toxic, and funny as ever,” he said. “And just when you thought our characters couldn’t do anything more ridiculous to themselves, they ended up doing it.”
On what to expect from Oliver this time around, Ellis said: “I’ve got to be honest, the focus isn’t so much on my character this season, but it still plays very much into the Bree storyline.”
Previously speaking about Ellis’s character and whether he would return, show creator (and Ellis’s real-life wife) Meaghan Oppenheimer told Variety that she wasn’t sure there was much left to his story.
“I think we could bring Marianne back, maybe,” she said. “There’s a lot more story to tell with her. But I think we kind of learned that Oliver is so broken and hollow by the end of this season that I’m ready for Bree to be done with him.”
It looks like Oppenheimer had a change of heart, with more to come from Ellis’s Oliver.
