Vikings actress Lucy Martin is enchanted by an alien in the first trailer for horror flick The Seed.
As you’ll have figured out thanks to the genre just mentioned, this isn’t the peaceful type of space creature encountered in Steven Spielberg’s E.T. – it’s precisely the opposite.
From writer-director Sam Walker, this Shudder release (premiering Thursday, March 10) looks destined for cult status.
“Lifelong friends Deidre (Martin), Heather (Resident Evil: Apocalypse’s Sophie Vavasseur) and Charlotte (I Hate Suzie’s Chelsea Edge) are finally getting some time away together, using the upcoming meteor shower to gather more followers for their social media channels,” the film’s synopsis reads.
“But what starts out as a girls’ getaway in the Mojave Desert descends into a battle for survival with the arrival of an invasive alien force whose air of mystery soon proves to be alluring and irresistible to them. Before long the situation devolves into a battle to the death, where the stakes have galaxy-wide implications.”
The first trailer reveals all kinds of gross imagery waiting to chill your very bone marrow – skip to 1 minute 13 seconds for the nightmare version of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone’s Devil’s Snare sequence.
Oh, and anyone who hates inky blood streaming from eye sockets may want to avoid this one too.
While we’re in the realm of malevolent Earth visitors, did you know that Fargo boss Noah Hawley is reviving the Alien franchise for TV?
“It’s the first story that takes place in the Alien franchise on Earth,” FX boss John Landgraf teased at the recent TCA press tour. “So, it takes place on our planet. Right near the end of this century we’re in – so 70-odd years from now.”
The Seed comes to streaming service Shudder on March 10.
