Riverdale’s Forsythe Pendleton Jones will be leaving the series in season 5. But will Jughead Jones’ dad be killed off from the series?
Riverdale restarted filming for series 5 last month in Vancouver where the show will pick up where it left off. The final few episodes of series four weren’t completed before the worldwide lockdown, so instead these episodes will make up the beginning of season five. Sadly, it has already been confirmed one character will be leaving his days in Riverdale behind.
Earlier this year, Skeet Ulrich, the actor behind FP Jones, announced he was leaving Riverdale.
He said how he wanted to move onto other projects but in a live Instagram Q&A, he was more candid about the reason.
Ulrich bluntly said: “I’m leaving Riverdale because I got bored creatively.
“How’s that? That’s the most honest answer.”
This week saw Ulrich film his final scenes and say goodbye to his colleagues and friends at Riverdale.
Taking to Instagram, Ulrich posted a picture of himself dressed as FP.
The caption read: “Goodbye Riverdale…thank you for introducing me to some lifelong friendships and so many beautiful souls.
“Today is my last day on set but the experience will never leave my heart. “Thank you to all of you for the love and support.”
This prompted some of his co-stars to comment including Cheryl Blossom actress Madelaine Petsch who said: “I love you”, followed by a broken heart emoji.
Hermione Lodge actress Marisol Nichols, who will also be leaving in series five, said: “Love you Skeet. Can’t wait for the world to see you’re [sic] upcoming projects.”
Will FP Jones be killed off in Riverdale season 5?
Following the heartfelt post, some fans commented on what they don’t want to see happen in Riverdale.
One fan said: “I hope FP isn’t killed off…Thank you! You were awesome!”, while another added: “I swear if he dies on the show…”.
So far, there has been no indication of how FP will be written out of Riverdale.
However, creator and showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa dropped a massive hint that FP will not die.
In a statement talking about Ulrich and Nichols’ departures from the series, Aguirre-Sacasa said: “Part of life in Riverdale — and part of growing up — is saying goodbye to people.
“I’m grateful to Skeet and Marisol for their incredible work on the show these last four years, and we all wish them well on their future endeavours.
“FP and Hermione will never be far from our hearts.
“And, of course, they’re always welcome back in Riverdale.”
The fact the door remains open for both Ulrich and Nichols indicates neither of them is going to die in Riverdale.
If they choose to, it seems that both of them could have a chance to make a comeback in the future so this may not be goodbye forever.
There is going to be a seven-year time jump so as the Core Four grow up and leave their school days behind, perhaps it’ll just be time for FP and Hermione to take a step back and to focus more on themselves.
