The 1st of June is a very special day for Outlander fans as it’s the day Diana Gabaldon published her first book, with ‘World Outlander Day’ being celebrated each year.
Despite the books and show being set in Scotland – the franchise has fans from all over the world with many today taking to social media to share their appreciation.
It wasn’t only the fans who were celebrating, with the official Outlander page sharing a special video message from all the cast.

Sam, who plays main character Jamie Fraser, thanked the fans in the video for supporting the show and said it wouldn’t be the same without them.
He said: “And honestly we couldn’t be doing this show without them (fans), you know the fact they have supported us. And they’re unwavering, you know they are really enthusiastic and we can’t thank them enough.
Richard Rankin, who plays Roger MacKenzie, added: “We have such a passionate, such a loyal fan base that it really does affect us and how we bring the show to you as well.”
Caitriona Balfe, who plays Jamie Fraser’s wife Claire, said: “It’s crazy that we have our own day, who did that? Was there a petition? What did you have to do? Do you have to like, fight other people to get that day? I just don’t know! We have the most amazing fans, I’m very grateful.”
Sam then added: “It’s a very special day, certainly for us here on Outlander, we can’t wait for you guys to see this season!”
And resharing the video on his personal account, he wrote: ” Happy World Outlander Day!! Much love to all our brilliant fans from bonnie Scotland!x.”
And author Diana Gabaldon also tweeted: “And a #happyworldoutlanderday to all of you!
Fans also sent their best wishes.
One wrote: “You are all the Best , Outlander is the Best show ever. Love from France.”
Another added: “Best show ever. love from Brazil!”
While one said: “Love this! You all are so amazing. Can’t wait for S6!”
Another commented: “Happy world Outlander day to all of us and thank you for making us laugh, cry, dream… felling more alive. Slainte.”
