The Vampire Diaries spin-off Legacies has featured plenty of references to its parent show, but now it’s going to celebrate the franchise in a whole new way: with a musical episode featuring some classic characters.
‘Salvatore: The Musical!’ is Legacies’ second musical episode, telling the story of how the titular school was founded.
But just because we said that characters are returning, that doesn’t mean that the original actors are returning. Instead, characters like Stefan and Damon will be played by the characters of Legacies, taking on the role of the TVD protagonists in their school musical.
Showrunner Brett Matthews told Entertainment Weekly that: “We had done a musical episode in season 1, so that was sort of the test run and we just loved that episode.
“[Executive producer] Julie [Plec] and I have always been looking for a way to talk about The Vampire Diaries, which is difficult in absentia in some of the actors.”
The publication also has a handful of stills from the upcoming episode, which show off Josie as Elena Gilbert, among others in TVD costume.
Fans (in the US) don’t have to wait long for the episode to air, as it airs on Feb 4 on The CW. Fans in the UK… aren’t so lucky, as it’s not really available anywhere.
